ABOUT DAVID DIAL

The man behind all the music in “The Legendary Ladies of Hollywood” is Multi-Keyboard “Wizard”, and the show’s Music Director, David Dial.

David Dial is a Musician, Producer, Composer, Arranger, Orchestrator, Vocalist, Sound Engineer and Website Designer.

As a professional “working musician” for over forty years, he has toured & performed in nearly every state in America, in Canada, Australia, Europe, Central America and Asia.

As a studio musician he has played on various Artist recordings, composed and produced music for documentaries, commercials, television and music production libraries. As a music producer David works with clients at his personal in-home digital project studio, where he records, arranges and electronically orchestrates a variety of artist-based music projects.

Upon arriving in Los Angeles in the mid 1970’s, David has served as Music Director, Band-Leader or Sideman for a variety of music ensembles, and was early on chosen by theatrical producer Herb Rogers to be Musical Director for the Southern California production of Neal Simon’s Broadway Musical “They’re Playing Our Song”, starring Timothy Bottoms.

Continuing his involvement with Musical Theater, he arranged and orchestrated the symphonic score for a 40-piece orchestra and chorus for a “Passion of Christ” based Musical entitled, “The Upper Room”, and he also created the original soundtrack and performance backing tracks for the satirical historic Musical “American Twistory”.

A member of ASCAP, David was awarded the Jeannie Star Sapphire Award for Excellence as a Composer and Producer by the Southern California Motion Picture Council.

Through the years David has worked with such luminaries as Carol Channing, Burt Bacharach, Peter Allen and James Darren, as well as a host of lesser known celebrities including Comic Impressionists Jim Meskimen, Fred Travalena, Steve Bridges, Danny Gans, Gordie Brown et. al.

Active in the recording industry, David arranged and orchestrated and performed on two critically acclaimed albums for Billboard chart-topping and recent Grammy-winning New Age Artist, Omar Akram. David also produced, arranged and orchestrated two CD Albums for Jazz Vocalist Melodye Dewine (featuring such Jazz luminary musicians as LLew Mathews, Ralph Penland, John B.Williams, Luther Hughes, Jack Sheldon, Sam Most, Barry Zweig, Michael Ferenci, Jeff Jarvis et. al)

As the composer and producer of the hauntingly powerful original song, “Shambala” (the featured soundtrack for “Shambala – The Music Video”) David has helped raise funds and awareness for the Shambala Preserve (a sanctuary for a host of abused and homeless lions and tigers) headed by screen legend, Tippi Hedren (star of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds“).

On the technical side, David served as Production Coordinator for internationally-renowned celebrity hypnotist, Tom Silver, bringing for the first time ever, a hypnosis half-time show to major NBA and WNBA sports events; appearing at such venues as Madison Square Garden in New York and the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This led to David composing and producing an original 2-CD collection of royalty free music for stage hypnotists entitled “All the Music & Sound Effects You’ll Ever Need For Your Professional Stage Hypnosis Show!

Residing in Southern California, David Dial met Toni Morrell in 1996. The couple were married in 1999, and have teamed up on many performance and recording related projects since that time, including – her breakthrough international appearance on Italy’s prime-time television show, Domenica In on the Rai Uno Network (David conducting its all-Italian orchestra); Toni’s critically acclaimed one-woman-show, “My British-American Dream“; and her recently developed Judy Garland tribute show titled “Come Rain or Come Shine / the Judy Garland Songbook – Her Life, her Loves, Her Legacy.”

In 2014 David was diagnosed with stage-4 inoperable throat cancer, which led to an uncertain period of treatment and recovery. Thankfully, through professional medical care, along with his personal faith in Jesus Christ and the loving care of his precious wife Toni, David is now enjoying a “cancer Free” life, having been declared “cured”.

And so, after their unanticipated hiatus from show business, Toni Morrell and David Dial have once again returned to the stage, performing across America in their critically acclaimed show, “The Legendary Ladies of SHOWBIZ” (a new version of their previous show, “The Legendary Ladies of Hollywood,” geared more toward the Baby Boomer Generation.
